Words Fell Gouache and sumi ink on mulberry paper, 24 x 39 inches, 2013
Waveforms: The source for the imagery in this work came from a video I developed to document the activity of light on water caused by the vibration of sounds from a waveform generator. Light illuminated the sound patterns to create morphing characters that became a language of its own.
The waveform video served as the source material for reductive woodcuts, a series of paintings and a video. The paintings were painted in gouache on unryu paper and overpainted with sumi ink.
Words Fell Video: The Words Fell video documents a willingness to destroy one thing for the possibility for something new to emerge.
